WALLS BETWEEN
PEOPLE
from 24 september 2008 to 25 january 2009
The exhibition features photographs of eight walls of separation
between human communities, taken by Alexandra Novosseloff and
Frank Neisse between July 2005 and April 2007.
These eight walls, each illustrating a specific geopolitical divide,
are brought together in a space organised in an original manner
by artist Robert Ireland: Visitors discover the photographs whilst
physically experiencing the presence of the walls.
Walls featured:
• The Demilitarised Zone between North and South
Korea
• The Green Line that divides the island of Cyprus
• Peace Lines that separate the neighbourhoods
of Belfast in Northern Ireland
• Berm, a wall of sand that crosses the western
Sahara from north to south
• The Fence built between the United States and
Mexico
• Protective Fencing around the Spanish enclaves
of Melilla and Ceuta in Morocco
• Electrified Wall along the Control Line between
Pakistan and India
• Security Fence between Israelis and Palestinians
in the West Bank.
